The most phiz-wizzing squibbler of all time: Roald Dahl

Updated: Apr 11, 2021

Book Reviews of four of the best Roald Dahl books for children.

Roald Dahl was the most phiz-wizzing squibbler of all time.He is beyond marvellous and has written a lot of children's books and some adult books too! He has a wide arsenal of made-up words at his fingertips. Did you know that in one book known as the BFG, he gave this strange language an even stranger name- GOBBLEFUNK !

So now that you have heard about Roald Dahl, you might want to read one of his books. Too bad, this frothboggling lockdown won't even let us out of our houses. Oh wait, maybe I could introduce you to the most famous books Roald Dahl wrote. Whoopsy- wiffling !!!!

First up: THE WITCHES!

You can see from the title itself that this book is about witches. But not those silly witches who wear pointed black hats and cloaks and ride on brooms. These are real witches and are extremely dangerous to children. They disguise themselves as normal women and try to harm them. Take the story of a girl who disappeared into a picture frame because she ate an apple given by a strange lady. Your next door neighbour might be a witch! This book tells you tricks to recognize a witch.

In Roald Dahl's THE WITCHES, you will meet a grandmom and a little boy,
who together destroy witches and bring children joy.
Sometimes funny and sometimes serious they seem
The boy and his grandmom mom make quite a team!
This book will make you itch,
To find out who among you is a witch!

Wonder what's next? ESIO TROT!

ESIO TROT.Sounds like French or gibberish maybe? Not really....

Mr. Hoppy likes his neighbour Mrs. Silver a lot.But he is a very shy man and cannot tell Mrs. Silver. The hero of this story is Mrs.Silvers pet tortoise, Alfie. Mr. Hoppy wishes that he could change places with Alfie, so she would love him too. When Mrs. Silver wants Alfie to put on weight, Mr. Hoppy comes up with a clever plan on how to win Mrs. Silver. He planned to take away Alfie and put fatter ones in its place. It ends when" Mrs. Silver becomes Mrs. Hoppy and the two of them lived very happily ever after."

ESIO TROT . Wonder what it means?
Not very hard. Simple it would seem.
Esio trot, try turning it around, what do you get?
TORTOISE! Alfie the hero, whom you just met.

Presenting...... BOY: TALES OF CHILDHOOD!

This one is unlike any other book Roald Dahl wrote.

The book is about Roald Dahl himself. But he said that this book was not an autobiography. Unlike most people whose stories have only some funny details, many things have happened to Roald Dahl when he was a boy. Some of them led to ideas for his books too. There are also some pictures related to what Roald Dahl wrote.Did you know that in Roald Dahl's school, all the students had to taste Cadbury's best chocolates and review them to check if the chocolates were good or bad.Wow! This idea led him to his most famous book of all which I will keep as a surprise.

This book is about Roald Dahl,
it shows his life , fun and all.
His ideas come from his life to books,
Witches,tortoises and chocolate cooks!

And the last but not least, the most whoopsy-wiffling book of all time: CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY!!!!!!

Mmmmm! This is going to be a very yummy story!

Roald Dahl found Charlie and the chocolate factory one of the most difficult books to write. His first version of book was read by his nephew Nicholas. He said that it wasn't very good so Roald Dahl realized that he had to rewrite it.

In a big town there was a chocolate factory. But not any ordinary chocolate factory but the most biggest and famous one run by the funny chocolate maker Mr.Willy Wonka . He has invented wriggle sweets and hair toffees and luminous lollies and God knows what else !!! This book will take you on a tour inside Willy Wonka 's chocolate factory where lots of funny things happened. Roald Dahl also wrote a sequel for Charlie and the chocolate factory- Charlie and the great glass elevator.

Meet Willy Wonka the chocolate man,
a magical chocolate factory he ran.
By Golly!he had help in store,
he had Oompa Loompas galore!
Funny,short,dwarfish they would seem,
they looked like clowns fit for a meme!

I liked the motto Roald Dahl lived by:

"My candle burns at both ends
it will not last the night.
But Ah my foes and Oh my friends,
It gives a lovely light"
